October Meet the Maker Featuring Maiden Hands

Maiden Hands 1.JPG

This month we are introducing you to Karlee Miller from Maiden Hands. Karlee joined us at Half Mile Handmade way back when we did our thing at City Market, and we are very proud to be her first retail partner ever! She has lived in Michigan her entire life and excitedly exclaimed, “that makes me a true Michigander, right?!” We sure think so! She grew up in a tiny town called Hart, and now lives in Grand Haven.

Karlee had always been interested in learning to crochet because her mom and grandma always made the most beautiful afghans. While on maternity leave (with her now seven year old) her mom taught Karlee to crochet, and she’s been at it ever since. After about a year family and friends started asking her to make items and she eventually made it into an official business in 2014 when she started posting photos of her items online. Karlee explains, “a friend came up with the name Maiden Hands. If you haven’t caught on its “made in hands” (aka Michigan) with a womanly twist.”

Karlee works full-time as a graphic designer and when she isn’t at her day job or crocheting she loves spending time with her family. We currently only have her (very popular) cup cozies in stock, but some of her other well-loved-items include beanies, scrunchies, and wash cloths.
